Excitement is at its peak for the league stage of the 2026-2027 season in the UEFA Conference League. Following the completion of the qualifiers, the 36 teams that will compete in the organization have been finalized, and the draw date has arrived.
The league stage draw will take place on Friday, August 28, in Monaco. UEFA will share the definitive pots and draw procedure with the public on the morning of the draw.
New System and Pot Structure
Of the 36 teams in the league stage of the Conference League, 24 consist of those that passed the play-off round, and 12 are teams eliminated from the Europa League play-off round. Unlike the Champions League and the Europa League, this tournament features six pots.
Teams are divided into six pots of six based on UEFA club coefficients. Each club is paired with one opponent from each pot, including its own pot, playing a total of six different matches.
Match Format and Pairing Rules
In the new system, which does not feature a classical group stage, all 36 teams are placed in a single standings table. Each team plays 3 of these matches at home and 3 away.
In the home and away distribution, the pots are paired in groups of two, and teams from the same country cannot be paired with each other as a rule.
Knockout and Final Stages
At the end of the six matches, the top 8 teams advance directly to the round of 16, while the 16 teams ranked between 9th and 24th qualify for the play-off round. Meanwhile, the 12 teams ranked between 25th and 36th in the standings bid farewell to the trophy.
The league stage will begin on October 15, 2026, and end with the matches on December 17. The grand final of the season will be played on June 2, 2027, at Beşiktaş Stadium in Istanbul.
