Ümmügül Deste Becomes European Kurash Champion
Athletes from Denizli achieved great success and returned with medals from the European Kurash Championship in Bulgaria.
Competing in the youth women's 70 kg category at the European Kurash Championship held in Bulgaria, Ümmügül Deste won the gold medal to become the European champion, while Efe Kağan Haytabey, competing in the cadet men's 50 kg category, won the bronze medal.
Details of the Championship
The organization, carried out under the coordination of the Turkish Developing Sports Branches Federation, took place in Panagyurishte, Bulgaria, between September 13 and 20, 2026.
Representing Denizli in the championship, the athletes successfully represented our country and city in challenging matches.
Gold Medal from Ümmügül Deste
Stepping onto the tatami in the youth women's 70 kg category, Ümmügül Deste outperformed her opponents with her superior performance.
Drawing attention with her technical capacity and fighting determination, Deste claimed the gold medal and reached the European championship.
Bronze Success from Efe Kağan Haytabey
Competing in the cadet men's 50 kg category, Efe Kağan Haytabey played successful matches and finished the tournament in third place.
Succeeding in stepping onto the podium with his resilience against tough opponents, Haytabey brought a bronze medal to Turkey.
