Chinese memory chip manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies has launched a legal battle against the US Department of Defense for adding it to the Chinese military company list. The company argues that this decision is baseless and entirely arbitrary.

Emphasis on Civilian Use

In the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, the company emphasized that it has no ties to the Chinese military. It stated that the produced DRAM chips are designed entirely for civilian and commercial areas, not for military purposes.

Demand for Cancellation and Removal from the List

Stating that they have suffered commercial and reputational losses since the initial classification in January 2025, company officials are demanding the cancellation of this classification and complete removal from the list.

Similar Lawsuits and Precedents

Similarly, in June, Alibaba had sued the US government against the same list. In 2021, Xiaomi successfully managed to be removed from the list as a result of a similar legal process.
