Decisive Steps for Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation Goals
Chaired by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, the committee reviewed the work of the third quarter of 2026, emphasizing the transition from input-oriented management to efficiency-oriented production.
The Steering Center for Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation met on September 28, 2026, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to evaluate its contributions to socio-economic development and its activities in the third quarter.
Purpose of the Meeting
Held in a hybrid format on September 28, 2026, the meeting included online participation from provinces and cities nationwide. Contributions to socio-economic development and the results of the third quarter of 2026 were comprehensively discussed during the session.
Databases and Synchronization
Reviewing the progress of tasks implemented under Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, it was reported that 8 out of 12 core national databases have been synchronized with the National Data Center, and a significant portion of specialized databases have been connected.
GDP and Added Value Ratios
It was announced that the added value ratio of science, technology, and digital transformation to GDP increased from 15.29 percent in 2020 to 16.51 percent in 2025. Additionally, it was reported that the share of the digital economy is projected to reach approximately 14.02 percent in 2025.
Emphasis on Output and Efficiency
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stated that despite the achievements, the results are not fully proportional to the high political determination, noting shortcomings in implementation capacity and the accountability of leaders. He emphasized that labor productivity, added value, and GDP contribution should serve as the criteria instead of the number of projects.
Future Expectations
Ministries, sectors, and local authorities were requested to resolve delayed tasks, remove institutional bottlenecks, and strengthen digital infrastructure. Furthermore, it was stated that the triple helix model connecting the State, universities, and businesses needs to be renewed.
