Visiting Niksar as part of the 6th International Workshop on Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art held in Tokat, an international delegation of approximately 70 people examined the district's historical structures and participated in hands-on workshop activities at the Yağıbasan Madrasah.
International Workshop Held in Tokat
The sixth edition of the International Workshop on Geometric Patterns in Islamic Art, which is organized in a different city every year, is being hosted by Tokat this year.
Realized Through Institutional Cooperation
Organized under the leadership of the Istanbul Design Center with the support of the Tokat Governorship and in cooperation with Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, the workshop brings together academics, artists, and experts from different countries around the world.
Niksar's Historical Heritage Examined
Coming to the city within the scope of the workshop, an international delegation of approximately 70 people visited the district to closely see the historical and cultural heritage of Niksar.
Visits to Historical Structures
Starting their Niksar program with a visit to the Kırkkızlar Tomb, the delegation then toured the historical Grand Mosque and received information about the district's historical background and architectural structure.
Workshop at Yağıbasan Madrasah
The next stop for the delegation was the Yağıbasan Madrasah, noted among Anatolia's important historical educational structures, where they participated in practical workshop activities.
Local Administrators Accompanied the Delegation
Niksar Deputy Mayor Mustafa Koyuncu and Municipal Council Member Akın Korkmaz accompanied the program to host the international guests.
Academics Hosted in Their Hometown
The international delegation also included Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hüsrev Subaşı, an academic from Tokat known for his work in the fields of Islamic arts and traditional arts.
