Domestic technology offers doctors virtual rehearsal opportunity before surgery
With the TÜBİTAK-supported MetaMed Project, MRI data is converted into 3D models, giving doctors the opportunity to perform remote collaborative surgeries.
Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK-supported MetaMed Project, MRI data is converted into 3D models, providing doctors with the opportunity to conduct examinations and simulations in a virtual environment before surgery.
Project Introduced at TEKNOFEST
The festival, led by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the T3 Foundation, is welcoming visitors at the Şanlıurfa GAP Airport.
MetaMed technology, made available to medical school students with the approval of the Ministry of Health, is being introduced at the festival.
3D Modeling and Simulation
Thanks to the project, DICOM data from standard MRI scans are transferred into a virtual environment in three dimensions.
This allows doctors to perform lesion detection, volumetry, and measurements with one-to-one accuracy.
Remote Collaborative Surgery Opportunity
Doctors in different countries can come together in the same virtual surgical environment to carry out joint work.
The system offers a simulation that can be controlled remotely without the need for the doctor to be by the patient's side.
Future Goals and Spreading
Computer engineer Emre Kaan Şanverdi stated that they have moved pre-surgical preparation processes into a virtual environment.
This developed domestic technology is expected to become widespread across the country in a short time.
