Trump's shift on AI: From 'very dangerous' to the launch of America.gov

Donald Trump has left behind his past critical approach to artificial intelligence technology and launched the America.gov portal, which combines federal websites under a single roof and enables AI-powered transactions.

Features of the America.gov Portal

Introduced by Donald Trump, America.gov stands out as a digital tool developed to simplify searches and bureaucratic procedures of public interest.

This platform combines all federal websites into a single portal, enabling citizens to log into the system, communicate in plain language, and complete their transactions without having to go to multiple agencies.

The Past 'Very Dangerous' Rhetoric

This initiative reveals a major mindset shift compared to the period when Trump described artificial intelligence as very dangerous due to risks such as deepfakes and disinformation during his August 2024 election campaign.

Following his return to the White House, Trump realized the economic and geopolitical advantages of the tech sector and updated his stance, particularly in the context of competition with China.

Summits Held with Technology Leaders

In September 2025, he hosted leading tech executives such as Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Bill Gates, Satya Nadella, and Sam Altman at a dinner in the White House to evaluate developments in the sector.

Recently, following talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, he signed an executive order officially designating artificial intelligence as 'superintelligence'.

Official Launch of the Project

The first phase of the America.gov portal was officially introduced to the public on September 29, 2026, at a meeting held with tech executives, including Elon Musk.

The chatbot included within the portal aims to facilitate users' official procedures by providing accurate answers in English, Spanish, and French.
