Drone Shield, developed with Turkish defense industry capabilities, is being introduced
Emerging from the collaboration of Turkish companies across different fields and a university, the system offers a physical destruction solution against low-cost aerial threats.
Developed with the contributions of four Turkish companies operating in firearms, robotics, mechanical engineering, algorithms, and electro-optics under the leadership of Turaç, along with a university, the Drone Shield system has been prepared for exhibition at the Istanbul Expo Center.
Development Process and Collaboration
With the Russia-Ukraine war, the widespread use of FPV and kamikaze drones on the battlefield increased the need for physical destruction solutions against low-cost aerial threats.
Faced with drones controlled by fiber-optic cables and unaffected by electronic jamming, rifle-based systems have regained a significant position.
Technical Features of the System
In the project shaped under the leadership of ammunition manufacturer Turaç, Derya Arms' two 12-gauge semi-automatic Derya MAX rifles were used, alongside Lasersan's electro-optic sensor package and acoustic receivers.
The system neutralizes the target it tracks from a distance of 600 to 800 meters thanks to a metal cloud created by simultaneous firing at a range of 150 meters.
Integration and Introduction Plan
Standing out with its lightweight and compact design, Drone Shield can be easily integrated into land and naval vehicles, fixed facilities, and unmanned ground vehicles.
The new defense system will meet the public and industry stakeholders for the first time within the scope of the 21st MÜSİAD EXPO, which will open its doors at the Istanbul Expo Center on September 23-26.
