Honda is preparing to test a special 300-meter road in Japan in 2027 that has the capacity to charge electric vehicles while they are in motion.

Project Details and Location

As part of the work carried out in partnership with Taisei Corporation, Honda will establish a special test road in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

Technical Capacity and Speed

It is stated that this innovative technology can offer up to 150 kW of wireless charging power to vehicles traveling at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour.

Goal of Reducing Battery Sizes

Taku Ueda from Honda's R&D unit stated that this system will reduce vehicle cost and weight in the future by shrinking battery capacities.

Similar Studies in the Global Arena

There are similar applications on the European continent as well; electric road tests are already underway in countries such as France and Germany.
