International Astronautical Federation Executive Director Christian Feichtinger gave full marks to the preparations for the 77th International Astronautical Congress, to be held in Antalya on October 5-9 under the auspices of Turkey, drawing attention to the country's pioneering role in space.

Congress Preparations and Coordination Process

Preparations are continuing at full speed for the 77th International Astronautical Congress, which will be organized under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, hosted by the Turkish Space Agency, and co-hosted by SAHA Istanbul.

Turkey's Place in the Space Ecosystem

International Astronautical Federation Executive Director Christian Feichtinger stated that Turkey has assumed a pioneering role in the region and determined an ambitious space policy and strategy.

The flight of the first Turkish astronaut into space, having a Lunar Program, and the rapidly growing space ecosystem are met with appreciation internationally.

Record Applications and Summit Participants

While it was reported that record applications were achieved in abstract submissions and early registrations for the IAC 2026 event, it was announced that more than fifty space agency presidents will come together at the congress.

It was also noted that a CEO meeting featuring high-level executives and approximately thirty international astronauts will take place within the scope of the event.

Emphasis on Mascot and Artemis Accords

Turkey's caretta caretta mascot named Turquoise, determined for IAC 2026, was greatly appreciated by officials, while the signing of the Artemis Accords also demonstrates the determination in space exploration.
