The Origin Story of the Startup
BarVox was founded to address the communication challenges faced by individuals with autism spectrum disorder and semi-verbal individuals. The company was inspired by the experiences of founder and CEO Dror Levy in trying to understand the speech of his autistic son, Bar.
How the AI-Powered Application Works
The application takes users' audio cues and word fragments and converts them into clear and personalized sentences. The system preserves users' unique expressions and respects the speaker's dignity by not correcting errors.
Hackathon Success and New Pilot Studies
BarVox was selected second in a hackathon competition by the Hackatism community, which develops technology for individuals with disabilities. Following this success, the startup is currently preparing to launch thirty new pilot studies.
Accessibility and Corporate Collaborations
The system, which can be used as an application on smartphones and tablets, is being tested in schools and adult centers. Additionally, discussions are underway with organizations like ALUT, and a partnership is in place with the University of Haifa.
