ITO President Avdagiç Emphasizes Artificial Intelligence Independence and 'AI Homeland'

Artificial Intelligence Competition and Global Embargo Risk

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce President Şekib Avdagiç pointed out that artificial intelligence does not consist solely of software and algorithms, drawing attention to the importance of strategic elements such as chips, GPUs, data centers, and energy.

Avdagiç stated that artificial intelligence models could turn into a global embargo threat in the future, and that Turkey must produce its own technology to avoid encountering new barriers similar to customs tariffs.

Artificial Intelligence Homeland Concept Like Blue Homeland

Expressing that Turkey should not be a country that merely uses technologies developed abroad, Avdagiç stated that the concept of Artificial Intelligence Homeland must be added alongside the Blue Homeland and Cyber Homeland concepts.

Avdagiç noted that developing one's own artificial intelligence models and robotic technologies must be viewed as a survival issue, akin to the defense industry.

2030 Vision and Turkey Artificial Intelligence Action Plan

Evaluating the Turkey Artificial Intelligence Action Plan published via a Presidential Circular, Avdagiç shared his satisfaction that the plan offers a concrete roadmap.

Stating that they are ready as the business world to contribute to the targets coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Avdagiç conveyed that they aim to increase data center installed capacity by the year 2030.

Defense Industry Accumulation and Strategic Opportunities

Stating that the accumulation Turkey has achieved in the defense industry provides a significant advantage in the field of artificial intelligence, Şekib Avdagiç called for this formula to be utilized in fields such as agriculture, logistics, and healthcare.

Touching upon the importance of providing high computing power with reliable and sustainable energy in the artificial intelligence race, Avdagiç underlined economic and technological sovereignty.
