First Camera-Free Smart Glasses
Meta has unveiled its first camera-free new device designed to reduce criticisms regarding the malicious use of AI glasses. Named Ray-Ban Meta Audio, this new model aims to deliver a purely audio-focused experience.
Features and Pricing
The device allows users to listen to music and podcasts, answer calls, perform speech translation, and communicate with the Meta AI assistant named Muse. Designed by EssilorLuxottica, the glasses will go on sale starting at $349.
Design and Battery Life
Weighing only 43 grams, the audio-focused glasses feature adjustable temple tips, interchangeable nose pads, and flexible hinges. Offering up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge, the device can extend this duration up to 48 hours with its charging case.
Colors and Release Date
Produced in two different new styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, the device is offered to buyers with a total of 23 color and lens combination options. Pre-orders for the glasses will begin on October 13.
New Generation Camera-Equipped Models
Meta also announced the new generation Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 series with cameras during the event. Coming in Wayfarer, Aviator, and Zena styles, this new camera-equipped series features a 12-megapixel camera supporting 3K Ultra HD video.
