Meteorology and AKOM issue yellow code warnings for storms and heavy rainfall in 14 provinces
Due to adverse weather conditions expected to affect the country, heavy showers, storms, and temperature drops are anticipated in 14 provinces. Authorities called for precautions against potential risks.
The General Directorate of Meteorology and AKOM have issued a yellow-code meteorological warning for 14 cities, including Istanbul. Citizens were urged to be cautious against floods, storms, and disruptions in transportation caused by adverse weather conditions.
Provinces under yellow code and expected adversities
According to the latest forecasts published by the General Directorate of Meteorology, a yellow-code warning was issued for Adana, Antalya, Balıkesir, Bursa, Hatay, Istanbul, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Zonguldak, Bartın, Yalova, Osmaniye, and Düzce.
Citizens were urged to act cautiously against floods, water inundation, lightning strikes, strong wind gusts during precipitation, and potential disruptions in transportation alongside heavy rainfall.
Warnings issued by AKOM for Istanbul
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Affairs announced that the weather system affecting the city will continue until Wednesday night. Winds are projected to blow as storms from northern directions.
Across Istanbul, where air temperatures are expected to drop by 6 to 8 degrees, intermittent heavy and sometimes very heavy downpours are anticipated.
Regional weather conditions and expected storms at sea
Local heavy rains are expected in the southern and eastern parts of Marmara, as well as around Tekirdağ, Düzce, Zonguldak, and Bartın. It was noted that temperatures will drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the western regions.
Meanwhile, the 10th Regional Directorate of Meteorology issued a warning for sailors and local residents due to a storm expected to reach speeds of 50-75 kilometers per hour off the coasts of Sinop, Samsun, and Ordu.
