National Foundation Supports AI-Powered STEM Education Project
The National Science Foundation has extended its funding for the EngageAI Institute, which enhances K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education with artificial intelligence.
A research project aimed at supporting STEM education for K-12 students with artificial intelligence tools has been extended until 2031 with new funding support from the National Science Foundation.
Extension of Funding Support
The National Science Foundation has renewed the five-year funding previously provided for the EngageAI Institute at North Carolina State University and extended the support period until 2031.
Research Team and Contributing Institutions
A coalition of universities, including UNC-Chapel Hill researchers, provides expertise to the institute's efforts to engage K-12 students and improve educational techniques. Mohit Bansal leads the work at Carolina, while faculty members Xiaoming Liu and Roni Sengupta also contribute to the project.
Future Period Work
In the new phase of the research, the goal is to create artificial intelligence-powered lessons that adapt to each student and remember progress throughout the year, alongside plans to provide teachers with ease in designing learning experiences.
