New York Governor Kathy Hochul met with the state's leading figures and senior corporate executives to evaluate the impacts of artificial intelligence on the state. Work is underway on policy recommendations to be submitted to the governor's office by the end of the year.

Artificial Intelligence and Employment Measures

The discussions covered increasing employment, supporting workers who may be displaced by artificial intelligence, and reskilling them. The goal is to train a workforce where businesses embrace this technology.

Administrative Positions at Risk

Experts emphasized that one out of every nine jobs in the state is a back-office or clerical job, and these positions are at the highest risk. It was stated that entry-level administrative jobs and assistant positions are disappearing rapidly.

New Safety Regulations

New regulations are being prepared against the possibility of AI agents getting out of control. In November, major artificial intelligence developers will be required to register with the state, and safety protocols will be published by January.
