Number of Generative Artificial Intelligence Users in China Surpasses 700 Million with Rapid Growth
According to recently published official data, the user base of generative artificial intelligence across China has gained significant growth momentum in a short period.
According to the report published by the Internet Network Information Center, the number of generative artificial intelligence users across China exceeded 700 million as of June 2026.
Rapid Increase in User Numbers
The number of artificial intelligence users, which stood at 602 million at the end of 2025, recorded an increase of nearly 100 million in just a six-month timeframe. During this process, the total penetration rate of generative artificial intelligence technologies also surpassed the 50 percent threshold.
High Interest in Chat Tools
Among different use cases, artificial intelligence systems stood out the most as chat tools and received great interest. 76 percent of artificial intelligence users resorted to these applications to find answers to questions they were curious about.
National Supercluster and Industrial Transformation
In the June 2026 period, the country's first national artificial intelligence supercluster consisting of 100,000 graphics processing units was put into operation. It was emphasized that generative artificial intelligence accelerates industrial transformation and renewal, making numerous sectors smarter.
Embodied Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
Embodied artificial intelligence technology was included in the report as one of the most actively developing aspects of the field. It was stated that robots powered by artificial intelligence hardware are used in a wide range of areas from industrial production to surgical operations and daily life services.
