Unveiled at the DevDay Conference
OpenAI introduced its new artificial intelligence assistant, called Dots, during the keynote address at DevDay on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. During the presentation, the system's capabilities were demonstrated to attendees.
GPT-6 Astra Infrastructure and Integrations
Dots assistants are powered by OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra model. These systems are designed to operate in the background across web browsers and over 4,000 supported applications.
Users can interact with these artificial intelligence assistants via text-like interfaces, voice searches, and tools such as Microsoft Teams and Slack.
Meta Muse Rivalry and Use Cases
Developed to compete with Meta's personal artificial intelligence assistant Muse, Dots focuses on workplace productivity. The system can perform tasks such as generating application updates or summarizing property transcriptions.
Technical Glitches During the Live Demonstration
During the live presentation conducted by Romain Huet, some glitches occurred because the voice command features failed to work. Company employees stated that this situation was caused by the release of multiple updates simultaneously.
Subscription Terms and Access Restrictions
Initial access to Dots assistants has been limited exclusively to ChatGPT Pro subscribers, Business Premium, and Enterprise users. Additionally, certain users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK were excluded from the scope of the initial release.
While eligible users can create a single primary Dot at no extra charge, chats with these assistants are not counted toward standard usage limits.
