Science and Technology Experience with STEAM Workshops at Village School

The "STEAM in the Village" project, prepared by the Gürsu Municipality Science Center within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4009 program, was implemented at Gündoğdu Primary and Secondary School in Osmangazi district. With the project, the access of students in village schools to scientific and technological experiences is increased.

Beginning and Objectives of the Project

The "STEAM in the Village" project, prepared by the Gürsu Municipality Science Center and supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4009 program, was put into practice at Gündoğdu Primary and Secondary School in Osmangazi district. The main target of the project is to increase the access of students in village schools to scientific activities and to enable them to learn science by experimenting.

Statements by Mayor Mustafa Işık

Speaking at the opening, Gürsu Mayor Mustafa Işık stated that they have carried the educational journey, which started with the Producing Children's Workshop, further with the Gürsu Science Center. Işık emphasized that creating opportunities for every child to discover their talents is one of the most valuable investments made in the future of the district.

Established Workshops and Activities

At the stands set up in the schoolyard, children participated in education and entertainment-oriented activities. The activity area hosted the Producing Children's Workshop, Search and Rescue Team Workshop, Science Center, Cute Paws Workshop, Sustainability Workshop, Coding Workshop, and Wood Design Workshop.

Participant Profile and Calendar

The project starts on September 22 and will end on September 24, and nearly 300 students brought from different regions will find the opportunity to get to know science and technology closely during this period. The event aims to encourage children's curiosity by diversifying learning opportunities at the village school.
