Science and Technology Workshop for Economic Growth in the Mekong Delta
A comprehensive workshop was held to discuss steps in science, technology, and innovation in line with double-digit growth targets in the region.
Coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People's Committee of Can Tho City, a workshop was organized to develop science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in order to achieve double-digit economic growth in the Mekong Delta region.
Purpose of the Workshop
The event, held on the morning of September 25, 2026, brought together experts, stakeholders, research institutes, and businesses to create a special plan aimed at increasing the region's economic growth potential.
The meeting focused on the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation to serve double-digit economic growth in the Mekong Delta region.
Regional Growth Targets
Emphasizing the agricultural importance of the Mekong Delta, it was stated that the region's Gross Regional Domestic Product is projected to increase by approximately 7.24% by the year 2025.
Along with current growth rates, it was expressed that new driving forces and strategic moves are needed to achieve double-digit growth targets.
Critical Issues Addressed
During the meeting, high-tech agriculture, the green economy, climate change adaptation, digital transformation, smart cities, and the development of qualified human resources were discussed in depth.
It was emphasized that the assessments made and the results of the workshop will form a solid foundation for the development of projects to be prepared in the future.
