Science Center and Technology Workshop Opened by Lake Salda
A large number of international astronauts participated in the opening ceremony of the new facilities implemented in the region known for its similarity to the Martian surface in Burdur.
The Salda Science Center and the Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University National Technology Workshop have been opened by Lake Salda in Burdur, which is known for its similarity to the planet Mars, with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır.
Wide Participation in the Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony held at the white islands by Lake Salda in the Yeşilova district of Burdur was attended by the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravcı, along with nearly thirty astronauts from different countries, primarily the United States. The program, which started with a folk dance performance, continued with protocol speeches.
Protocol Speeches Were Made
At the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, and Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of the project.
TÜBİTAK-Supported Projects
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that the Salda Science Center was brought to life with thirty million liras of support through TÜBİTAK and shared details about the center. The center houses the Confronting Mars Exhibition and the Rocket Exhibition.
Applied Education for Youth
It was stated that young people will conduct applied studies on space technologies in the workshop named Beyond the Horizon, while it was emphasized that the Mehmet Akif Ersoy University National Technology Workshop also provided infrastructure with TÜBİTAK support over a three-year period.
