Science Center Established on the Shores of Lake Salda Opened with a Ceremony
Salda Science Center and MAKÜ National Technology Workshop in Burdur were opened with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Kacır.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır inaugurated the Salda Science Center and the MAKÜ National Technology Workshop, established on the shores of Lake Salda, which is known for its resemblance to Mars' Jezero Crater.
Lake Salda and Natural Laboratory
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that Lake Salda in Burdur, which features geological formations similar to the Jezero Crater on Mars, is a natural laboratory.
International Participation at the Opening
The opening ceremony was attended by astronauts Alper Gezeravcı, Tuva Cihangir Atasever, and Gökhan Erdem, who came to Turkey within the scope of the 77th International Astronautical Congress, along with many other astronauts from around the world.
National Technology and Space Missions
Minister Kacır emphasized that Turkey has turned its dream of domestic automobiles with Togg, training aircraft, helicopters, and satellites into reality.
Stating that the third Turkish astronaut Gökhan Erdem carried the flag into space, Kacır noted that a spacecraft is projected to be sent to conduct research in lunar orbit in the first months of 2027.
Features of the Salda Science Center
Stating that 44 science centers across Turkey have been put at the service of youth, Kacır announced that the center opened in Salda is the country's 45th science center.
Implemented with 30 million liras of support through TÜBİTAK, the center hosts the Confronting Mars Exhibition, a rocket exhibition, and the Beyond the Horizon workshop.
MAKÜ National Technology Workshop
It was reported that the MAKÜ National Technology Workshop, established with TÜBİTAK support, offers youth a broad infrastructure ranging from design to artificial intelligence.

TÜBİTAK President Orhan Aydın, Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, and MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, expressing their satisfaction with the project.
