Simulator Center Opened at Iskenderun Technical University

The Simulator Center belonging to SimBT Company, established with the contributions of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping to strengthen maritime education at Iskenderun Technical University, has been put into service with a ceremony attended by protocol members and students.

Opening Ceremony Held

The Simulator Center belonging to SimBT Company, which will increase practical opportunities in maritime education at Iskenderun Technical University, entered service with a ceremony held in the Central Campus Blue Hall.

İSTE Rector Mehmet Duruel, İMEAK DTO Chairman of the Board Tamer Kıran, Iskenderun Deputy Mayor Cihan Akyürekoğlu, and numerous guests attended the opening program.

Provides Practical Training Privilege

Thanks to the bridge, engine room, and GMDSS simulators located in the center, students will find the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge with scenarios closest to reality before going out to the open seas.

In the center, which allows 14 students to receive training simultaneously, different weather and sea conditions, as well as ports and waterways, can be experienced in a simulation environment.

Importance of Maritime Education Emphasized

Barbaros Hayrettin Faculty of Naval Architecture and Maritime Dean Beşir Dandıl stated that it is a source of pride for the center to be brought to life with the labor of Turkish engineers and that it constitutes an investment in the future of Turkish maritime.

İMEAK DTO Chairman of the Board Tamer Kıran also expressed that simulator training is an indispensable element of modern maritime education and will contribute to students preparing more equipped for their professional lives.

Strategic Location and Academic Structure

İSTE Rector Mehmet Duruel stated that Iskenderun is one of Turkey's strategic production and logistics centers, drawing attention to the university's multi-dimensional academic structure in the field of maritime.

Emphasizing that mistakes made in the simulator can be compensated for, but captains do not have such a chance in the open sea, Duruel asked the students to evaluate this center with seriousness.

Presentation of Plaques and Ribbon Cutting

The message sent by Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Boyraz due to his inability to attend the ceremony was conveyed to the participants, and plaques were presented to the contributors at the end of the program.

The ceremony ended with the cutting of the opening ribbon of the Marsim Simulator Center, a tour of the center, and a cocktail reception.
