Renowned investor Warren Buffett has stepped down as chairman of the board of Berkshire Hathaway as part of a long-planned process. The 96-year-old famous investor will assume an advisory role at the company as honorary chairman.

Handed Over the Role to His Son Howard Buffett

Warren Buffett handed over the leadership baton at Berkshire Hathaway to his son Howard Buffett as part of a long-term planned transition process.

Howard Buffett, who has been a member of the company's board of directors since 1993, will serve as the chairman of the board in the new term.

Will Continue as Honorary Chairman

According to the letter sent to shareholders, the 96-year-old famous investor will continue to remain on the company's board of directors and will act as an advisor with the title of honorary chairman.

Buffett stated that he will continue to share his experience and perspective when needed.

Changes in Management Structure

This decision was implemented shortly after Buffett handed over the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to Greg Abel nine months ago.

While Greg Abel manages corporate strategy and capital decisions, Howard Buffett's primary responsibility will be to protect the firm's culture and values.
