TEKNOFEST Nuclear Technology Competition Finals Begin in Istanbul
Projects developed by young people are competing in the event organized under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and TENMAK.
The TEKNOFEST Nuclear Technology Competition finals, carried out under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and TENMAK, are being held on September 1-4, 2026 at the TENMAK campus in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul.
Purpose and Scope of the Competition
Held within the scope of TEKNOFEST organized under the main leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Turkey Technology Team Foundation, the competition aims for young people to put their technical knowledge and engineering skills in the field of nuclear energy into practice.
It aims to strengthen Turkey's competence in the field of nuclear technologies in line with its 2053 net zero emission targets and to support domestic solutions.
Project Areas Developed
Within the scope of the competition, young people are developing projects in a wide range of areas from modular reactors to research reactors, from nuclear fuel and waste management to passive safety systems.
While neutronic analyses and simulations are prepared in the software category, physical prototypes are produced for facility maintenance and accident response in robotic systems.
Teams Advancing to the Final Stage
A total of 193 teams and 733 contestants, consisting of university students, graduates, and private sector representatives from home and abroad, applied for the competition.
As a result of the evaluations, 42 teams and 293 contestants found successful earned the right to participate in the final stage and are presenting their projects to the jury.
Awards and Incentive Support
A special incentive support of 15 million liras will be provided for the laboratory and infrastructure installation of the university of the school team that comes first in the detailed design category.
Various cash prizes ranging between 200 thousand liras and 1 million 250 thousand liras will be given to the teams that rank, according to their categories.
