Female students from Kadıköy Anatolian Imam Hatip High School secured third place with a drone named EBABİL at the TEKNOFEST drone competition held in Malatya.

Competing in the Rotary Wing category at the TEKNOFEST drone competition held in Malatya, female students from Kadıköy Anatolian Imam Hatip High School finished third in the competition with the drone named EBABİL that they developed.

Development of the EBABİL Drone

Competing in the Rotary Wing category at the competition in Malatya, the students achieved significant success with the drone they named EBABİL after about two years of work.

Taking direct roles in the mechanical, design, and software processes, the female students carried out intensive work to make the unmanned aerial vehicle lighter, faster, and possess a higher payload capacity.

Two-Year Production and Work Process

Team captain Sude Nur Akbaş stated that EBABİL is the result of a two-year production process, noting that they focused on designing a vehicle that could achieve the best result in the TEKNOFEST UAV Rotary Wing Competition.

Explaining that they worked in the technology workshops at their school, Akbaş noted that they designed and produced many parts of the UAV themselves, from its mechanical assembly to its software.

Competition Experience and Ranking

Having managed to reach the finals in the same category last year, the team improved the mechanical and software features of the vehicle to finish third in this year's competition.

Team pilot Gülsemin Yeşil expressed that they had been preparing for the competition for about two years, reached the finals for the first time last year, and achieved third place this year alongside their newly joined teammates.

Design and School Support

Safiye Meryem Yanar, who worked in the design department, conveyed that during the UAV's design process, they worked to ensure the vehicle was as small and light as possible while also having a high payload capacity.

Team supervisor Ahmet Talha Çalışkan also emphasized that the success achieved was not the result of just one year of work, and that the students had gained experience by participating in TEKNOFEST in previous years as well.
