Hundreds of thousands of people attended the state-backed military parade held on Friday in Iran's capital, Tehran. State broadcasters in the region highlighted the immense size of the crowds in the streets.
Volunteer Military Training Campaign
Under a campaign named Janfada, which translates to those who sacrifice their lives for Iran, hundreds of thousands of citizens volunteered to receive limited military training and defend the country. It was reported that the volunteers will soon begin training with assault rifles.
Officials' Statements and Objectives
Tehran Guards Commander General Hassan Hasanzadeh stated that more than 600,000 people have registered, while new Basij commander Hossein Taeb emphasized that the volunteers will be ready for fully-equipped defense. President Masoud Pezeshkian and top military commanders were also among those watching the march.
Displayed Military Equipment and Slogans
During the parade, various military equipment such as anti-aircraft batteries, truck-mounted machine guns, and drones were displayed, while participants trampled U.S. and Israeli flags and chanted slogans.
