Thirteen Provinces with Weak Mobile Signal Areas to Connect via Starlink Satellites
At a ceremony aimed at strengthening Vietnam's communication infrastructure, Starlink terminals and free internet services were distributed to disadvantaged locations in thirteen provinces.
Through a collaboration between the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority and Starlink Services Vietnam, villages and public institutions in 13 provinces with insufficient mobile signal coverage across the country are gaining access to satellite internet.
Collaboration and Ceremony Details
A handover and distribution ceremony was held within the scope of the partnership realized between the Telecommunications Authority, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Starlink Services Vietnam Co., Ltd.
With this organized ceremony, timely connectivity support was provided for villages, government offices, educational and healthcare institutions that have weak or insufficient telecommunication signals.
Identified Isolated Regions
It was officially determined that there are a total of 273 villages and hamlets completely isolated from the outside world across the country.
Field studies identified a total of 117 critical locations in 13 different provinces and cities, along with 273 villages that have weak or no signal.
Provinces Included in Coverage
Critical regions such as Cao Bang, Da Nang, Dien Bien, Gia Lai, and Hue are included within the scope of the project.
In addition, weak signal areas in the provinces of Lai Chau, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Son La, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, and Tuyen Quang were also covered.
Technical Support and Service Package
In the first phase, 254 Starlink Standard 4X terminal devices were shipped and installed in the regions in need.
For these distributed devices, service packages offering completely free access for users for six months up to a maximum speed of 400 Mbps were provided.
