Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced at the Türkevi in New York that hybrid rocket technology will be tested in deep space for the first time within the scope of Turkey's Moon mission.
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır shared Turkey's strategic goals in the fields of space and technology in an evaluation made to TRT Haber at the Türkevi in New York, where he was attending the United Nations General Assembly. It was announced that the spacecraft planned to be sent to the Moon in the early months of 2027 will test hybrid rocket technology in deep space for the first time.
Moon Mission and Hybrid Rocket Technology
The production process of the spacecraft developed by Turkey with its own resources has been completed and shipped to the testing center at TUSAŞ to be tested. The spacecraft is targeted to reach the Moon in the early months of 2027.
Turkey's own hybrid system will be ignited during the Moon landing maneuvers. This innovative hybrid rocket technology has never been tried in deep space before, making it a first in this field.
Investments in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Infrastructure
Stating that Turkey is seeing great interest in investments, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that new investments in data centers and artificial intelligence fields will be announced as good news.
It was noted that efforts to increase the country's total computing capacity to 1 gigawatt within the framework of the 2030 Artificial Intelligence Action Plan are ongoing.
Satellite Development Activities
While activities under the National Space Program continue decisively, Turkey became one of the 11 countries gaining competence in this field with its own communication satellite Türksat 6A and high-resolution imaging satellite İmece.
Infrastructure projects in the field of space also include a Space Technopark established in Ankara and a Spaceport built in Somalia.
