Urban Railway Infrastructure and BIM Applications Discussed in Hanoi

The University of Transport and Communications in Hanoi and stakeholders held a seminar on Building Information Modeling for urban railway stations and metro areas in connection with the Transit-Oriented Development concept.
Purpose of the Seminar
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environment at the University of Transport and Communications organized a joint event in collaboration with Shibaura Institute of Technology, the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board, and the British Embassy in Hanoi.
During this event, Building Information Modeling for urban railway stations and metro areas was discussed in connection with the Transit-Oriented Development concept.

In his opening remarks at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, Vice President of the University of Transport and Communications, made important evaluations.
Nguyen Thanh Chuong stated that in the context of integration and development, strengthening the applications of science, technology, and digital transformation in transportation for the development of urban railway systems is an urgent need.
The Role of BIM Technology
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Chuong, BIM is not merely a tool supporting design or construction information management.
At the same time, BIM can become a critical platform for stakeholders to share, use, and manage data throughout the project lifecycle.
Expert Discussions and New Technologies
During the seminar, domestic and international experts addressed issues regarding the application of digital technology in the development of urban railway infrastructure.
Additionally, the role of information management in the BIM implementation process and the integration of Geographic Information Systems, Digital Twins, and Artificial Intelligence in the digital transformation of railway infrastructure were discussed.
Presentation of Student Research
Within the scope of the event, student groups from the Shibaura Institute of Technology and the University of Transport and Communications also participated.
The student groups presented the results of their research on the application of BIM in the development of urban railway stations and metro areas to the attendees.
