Use of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine has more than doubled in two years
According to a new study conducted in partnership with Digitail and AAHA, the adoption rate of artificial intelligence in the veterinary sector has reached 83.7%.
According to research conducted by Digitail and the American Animal Hospital Association, the use of artificial intelligence among veterinary professionals surged from 39.2% in 2024 to 83.7%.
Rapid Increase in Artificial Intelligence Adoption
A new study conducted by Digitail and the American Animal Hospital Association revealed that the use of artificial intelligence among veterinarians has gained significant momentum over a two-year period.
According to the data obtained, 83.7% of professionals in the sector benefit from artificial intelligence tools, while 88.3% of these users utilize the technology daily or weekly.
The Importance of a Strategic Approach
The research emphasized that simply adopting artificial intelligence is not enough on its own, and that a strategic approach plays a key role in success.
It was reported that clinics approaching the process strategically achieve business results at six times the rate of clinics with the lowest maturity.
Scope and Details of the Survey
The survey, which involved veterinary professionals from various clinic types and roles across the US and Canada, gathered 1,730 self-reported responses.
With the Veterinary Artificial Intelligence Maturity Index used for the first time this year, clinics were evaluated on a scale of four, and the average score was determined as 2.67.
Most Frequently Preferred Application Areas
Clinical documentation, AI scribes, and SOAP notes were cited as the most common use case by 62.8% of artificial intelligence users.
While clinical documentation is followed by client communication, diagnostic applications are preferred at lower rates.
Reported Benefits and Business Results
The benefits reported by survey participants included higher patient turnover, better client satisfaction, and expanded digital services.
Meanwhile, approximately twenty percent of participants stated that they had not yet observed a measurable impact.
Current Challenges and Industry Concerns
Despite widespread adoption rates, it was found that more than half of the clinics do not have a distinct artificial intelligence strategy.
While reliability and accuracy remain the primary source of concern, anxieties regarding data security and lack of training have also increased.
