Tourism inflation in Turkey reached 8 times that of Europe in August 2026

Inflation Gap Between Turkey and Europe
The annual increase in hotel and restaurant prices in Turkey stood at 31.2 percent in August 2026. In the same period, tourism inflation across the European Union was measured at 3.8 percent.
The inflation gap between the two regions rose to 27.4 points. Turkey's tourism inflation continued to hover at around 8 times the European Union average.
Annual Change and Course of Price Pressures
It was observed that Turkey's tourism inflation, which maintains its high course, recorded a decline of 2.8 points compared to the same month of the previous year.
This limited decline was recorded as a development indicating a partial slowdown in the price increase pressure within the sector.
Tourism Inflation in European Countries
According to the analysis conducted by Tourism Databank, tourism inflation in Greece was calculated at 8.1 percent in the August 2026 period.
It was stated that tourism inflation of 4.9 percent in Spain, 2.8 percent in Germany, and 1.9 percent in France was recorded in the same period.
Comparison with Competitor Destinations
The results of the analysis clearly revealed that tourism price increases in Turkey remained at high levels compared to rival destinations in Europe.
