Turkey's application to become an Associate Observer of the Ibero-American Conference was approved at the Ibero-American Meeting of Foreign Ministers held within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
About the Ibero-American Conference
Bringing together a total of 22 countries from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, the Ibero-American Conference was established with founding summits in 1991 and 1992, and its secretariat is located in Madrid.
Associate Observer Status
While other countries participate in the organization with the title of associate observer, countries with this status are able to take part in summits and ministerial meetings.

In the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, thanks were extended to the term president Spain and all member countries for their efforts in making this decision.
Upcoming Summit and Cooperation
Turkey will participate in the 30th Ibero-American Conference Summit to be held in Madrid on November 4-5, 2026, with the status of associate observer.
