The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Turkey's application to become an Associate Observer to the Ibero-American Conference has been accepted, and the decision will be formalized at the summit to be held in Madrid in November.

Application Accepted

Turkey's application to become an Associate Observer to the Ibero-American Conference was accepted at the Ibero-American Foreign Ministers Meeting held within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Announcing the decision in a written statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the member countries, especially Spain as the President-in-Office, and to the Ibero-American Secretariat for their contributions.

Madrid Summit and Formalization Process

Turkey is expected to participate in the 30th Ibero-American Conference Summit, to be hosted by Spain in Madrid on November 4-5, with Associate Observer status.

This status and participation are anticipated to be fully formalized at the summit to be held in November.

Official Initiatives and Process

Turkey had submitted its official application to obtain Associate Observer status with a signature from Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.

The application letter written by Minister Hakan Fidan addressed to Ibero-American Conference Secretary General Andres Allamand was delivered on July 3.

Cooperation and New Countries

This new status is aimed at making a significant contribution to deepening Turkey's cooperation with member countries in the Latin America and Caribbean region in the fields of political dialogue, trade, culture, and development.

On the other hand, it was reported that at the Foreign Ministers Meeting held, the associate observer applications of Angola and India, along with Turkey, were also accepted.
