The "New Era, Security Cooperation, and Strategic Partnership in Turkey-Somalia Relations" panel was organized by the Directorate of Communications in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.

During the panel, the historical background of relations between the two countries, current bilateral cooperation, and strategic dimensions were discussed in detail.

Deep-Rooted Relations and Historical Turning Points

In his video message, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran emphasized that relations between Turkey and Somalia have a very deep-rooted past.

It was stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s historic visit to Mogadishu in 2011 transformed the relations.

Africa Policy and Threats to Sovereignty

It was noted that in the foreign policy paradigm towards the African continent, the orientalist codes of Western centers are rejected and the perspective of African solutions is adopted.

It was emphasized that Israel's attempts to establish influence and create instability in the region via Somaliland openly threaten Somalia's sovereignty.

Concrete Cooperation and Defense Steps

It was recorded that Turkey stands by its brotherly country Somalia under all circumstances and that the Ankara Declaration is an important indicator of support for regional peace.

The TURKSOM Military Training Base, defense and maritime security agreements, the activities of the Oruç Reis vessel, and the spaceport project were listed as concrete steps.
