2026 World Science Literacy Conference Opens in Beijing
Opening its doors in Beijing with the theme of smart society, the international event brings together experts and institutional representatives from various countries.
The 2026 World Science Literacy Conference commenced its work in Beijing under the theme "Scientific Literacy for a Smart Society: Opportunities, Challenges, and Transformation."
Opening Ceremony of the Conference
Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the event.
China's Science Initiatives
It was announced that the country's law on the popularization of science and technology has been updated in line with the vision in the congratulatory message sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the first conference.
It was stated that efforts to increase the scientific literacy of the public have been deepened and the national science promotion capacity has been strengthened.
International Cooperation and Organization
It was emphasized that China promotes the integration of science, technology, and culture, and led the establishment of the World Science Literacy Organization with the participation of 32 founding members from 20 different countries.
Participants and Host
The organization is jointly hosted by the World Science Literacy Organization and the China Science and Technology Museum.
More than 500 guests consisting of representatives from science, technology, education, and business circles from 32 countries, as well as officials from international organizations, are attending the conference.
