The LWF Africa Lutheran Churches Leadership Consultation concluded in Johannesburg with comprehensive sessions and visits to historical sites.

Leadership and Social Issues

During small group discussions, participants addressed issues such as gender-based violence, peacebuilding, and mental health. The joys and challenges of leadership were emphasized.

Climate Crisis and Youth Forum

On the final day of the sessions, the theme of advocacy came to the forefront, and the LWF Africa Youth Climate Forum was held. Climate activists and youth coordinators delivered speeches at the forum.

Advocacy and Regional Challenges

Isaiah Toroitich, Head of Global Advocacy, led a session on the implementation of the advocacy framework, and a panel discussed successes and challenges in the region.

Historical and Cultural Visits

Following two intensive days, participants visited key historical sites in Johannesburg to examine South Africa's apartheid history.

Closing and Joint Worship

The group concluded the meeting with a closing worship service in Kempton Park, following stops at the Apartheid Museum, the Hector Pieterson Memorial, and Mandela House.
