In Asia, artificial intelligence technologies have begun moving beyond software to be integrated into real-world environments such as robotics, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing. This situation creates new challenges and opportunities for Vietnam's science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation goals.

The Real-World Evolution of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is expanding its application areas in healthcare, industry, energy, and many other engineering fields. According to CNA, many Asian tech companies are integrating AI into areas directly related to production and daily life. More than half of the companies in the NextGen Tech 30 program are applying this technology in wind energy, logistics, pharmaceuticals, construction, and space operations.

The Artificial Intelligence 3.0 Phase

This shift indicates that artificial intelligence has entered a new phase, referred to as AI 3.0, where it interacts directly with real-world environments. Jenny Lee, senior managing partner at Granite Asia, notes that the selected companies are using AI to transform industries.

Challenges of Physical Integration

Daniel Ong, founder of Menlo Research, draws attention to the difficulties of integrating generative AI into a physical machine. It is stated that robots still struggle with instinctive skills such as object recognition and interaction found in humans.

Innovations in Healthcare

While significant developments are taking place in healthcare, Japanese startup Craif has developed an AI-based technology capable of detecting cancer with 90 percent accuracy by extracting microRNA from urine, and is targeting the Southeast Asian market.

The Need for an Ecosystem for Vietnam

All these developments emphasize Vietnam's requirements to promote the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. For AI to create real value, developing software alone is not enough; a proper ecosystem is needed so that the technology can be integrated into specific problems in production and daily life.
