Autonomous Agents Will Manage AI Traffic, According to Huawei

A recent report published by China-based telecommunications and technology giant Huawei reveals that billions of autonomous agents will dominate global AI traffic by 2035. The company argues that instead of slowing down development during this process, the focus should be on security and privacy.

AI Traffic Forecast for 2035

According to the report published by Huawei, autonomous agents will account for more than 90% of global AI token traffic by 2035. This situation makes massive increases in computing power mandatory.

Due to AI agents continuously perceiving their environment, reasoning, and making decisions, annual token consumption is expected to increase dramatically over the next decade.

Differences in Approach to Global AI Policies

Some prominent researchers and executives in the US are calling for AI development to be slowed down due to the risk of independent systems spinning out of control. Huawei's report does not contain any call to slow down development.

Anticipating a dramatic expansion in agent capabilities and deployment, the company positions security and privacy protection as top priorities for autonomous agents.

Technology Infrastructure and Security Strategies

Huawei's report supports its earlier predictions that billions of AI agents could be active globally. The company launched an autonomous security operations platform in April and proposed AI firewall recommendations.

Huawei Supervisory Board Chairman Guo Ping stated that they view AI as the company's greatest opportunity and aim to elevate the computing infrastructure to a position similar to Nvidia's in the country.
