Brad Pitt has officially signed on to star in Paramount Pictures' long-awaited World War Z sequel.

Director and Writer Team

Edward Berger, the director of All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave, will helm the project.

The film's screenplay will be written by Dennis Kelly, while production details are currently being kept under wraps.

Production Team

Brad Pitt will produce the sequel alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner through his company Plan B.

Director Edward Berger will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

Success of the Original Film

Adapted from Max Brooks' 2006 bestselling novel, the first film grossed over $540 million at the global box office.

In the first production directed by Marc Forster, Brad Pitt played Gerry Lane, a former UN employee racing against time against a zombie pandemic.

Development Process and Other Projects

Paramount announced at CinemaCon in April that the film is in active development following previous cancelled attempts.

Brad Pitt also has upcoming projects such as Heart of the Beast and Cliff Booth, which will be released on Netflix.
