Election Calendar and Voting Process
In the event that no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the valid votes in the first round of voting to take place on October 4, the two candidates with the most votes will advance to the runoff elections on October 25.
Quaest Research Results
According to the Quaest poll commissioned by Globo, Lula and right-wing Bolsonaro each receive 42 percent of the vote in a potential runoff. In the first-round scenario, Lula maintains his lead with 39 percent of the vote, while Bolsonaro stays at 34 percent. Quaest conducted interviews with 2,004 people between September 24 and 27, and the margin of error for the poll was announced as 2 percentage points.
BTG Pactual and Nexus Poll Details
According to another poll conducted by BTG Pactual/Nexus, Lula receives 46 percent of the vote in the second round, while the former president's son Bolsonaro receives 44 percent. In the first round, Lula reaches 42 percent and Bolsonaro 37 percent of the vote. Nexus surveyed 2,000 people between September 25 and 27, and this research also had a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
