Minister of Finance François-Philippe Champagne stated at a press conference that retaliatory tariffs based on the principle of dollar-for-dollar and rate-for-rate will be put into effect.
Support for Workers and Businesses
Along with the announced countermeasures, a $5.4 billion support package will be launched to protect workers and businesses in Canada.
Government officials emphasized that these economic supports will provide relief to domestic producers affected by the trade tensions.

Minister of Industry Mélanie Joly stated that Canada is targeting products that will create political pressure on the Trump administration, particularly in certain states.
