According to the Global Hydrogen Compass 2026 report prepared by the Hydrogen Council, the amount of investment committed in the field of clean hydrogen worldwide reached 130 billion dollars as of September.

Investment Volume and Capacity

According to the Global Hydrogen Compass 2026 report prepared by the Hydrogen Council, the amount of investment committed in the field of clean hydrogen to date has risen to 130 billion dollars as of September. The total committed capacity has reached a level of 6.9 million tons per year.

Project Status and Number of Projects

According to the disclosed data, work is underway on more than 570 projects to reach this capacity. Approximately 90 percent of the projects are under construction or already in operation.

Strategic Dimension of Investments

The main motivations shaping hydrogen investments vary by geography. More than 60 percent of the committed investments are concentrated in areas such as energy security, economic growth, and decarbonization.

Supply Security and Supply Diversity

It is stated that the production of clean hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives on a local scale can contribute to countries dependent on energy and raw material imports diversifying their supply sources and creating strategic reserves.

Hydrogen Technologies in the Electricity Sector

Pointing out that approximately 34 percent of global electricity generation is provided from renewable sources, the report emphasizes the importance of hydrogen technologies such as electrolyzers and fuel cells. It is noted that these technologies provide demand-side flexibility, while the widespread adoption of hydrogen in the electricity sector could also provide a cost advantage.
