Brazil national team head coach Carlo Ancelotti has implemented a major overhaul in the squad following their World Cup elimination, including young talents alongside experienced names.
Comprehensive Squad Change Process
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti officially kicked off a completely new era in the Brazil national team with his announcement on Wednesday.
In this new restructuring, which features very few players from the World Cup squad of three months ago, a large number of young talents have been included in the roster.
Friendly Match Schedule
The renewed Brazil national team will play two friendly matches against Australia, in Townsville on September 25 and in Brisbane on September 29.
The team will also play their first-ever match against India in the city of Kolkata on October 3.
Planning for Future Tournaments
Ancelotti took steps in line with the promise he made following the round-of-16 elimination against Norway in July.
The manager aims to build the backbone of the 2030 World Cup by calling up players who will also be eligible to play in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
World Cup Disappointment
In his statement, Ancelotti noted that the World Cup was a disappointment for them and personally for him.
He stated that they did not play as expected and that elimination by Norway caused great disillusionment.
Omitted and Departing Names
Going for a complete renewal in the goalkeeper position, Ancelotti called up three new names while leaving out Liverpool's Alisson Becker.
Additionally, experienced midfielders Casemiro and Fabinho were not included in the squad, while Neymar had previously announced the end of his international career.
Experienced Names Retained in the Squad
Alongside all these changes, some experienced names such as Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior and Barcelona's Raphinha were retained in the squad.
Arsenal player Bruno Guimarães and PSG captain Marquinhos were also among the other veteran footballers included in the team.
