DNA test reveals two lifelong friends are actually sisters

Two women adopted by different families in Netherlands, who met in their youth and became close friends, learned years later through a DNA test that they are biological sisters.

A Friendship That Began in Childhood

Born in India and adopted as babies in the early 1980s from different orphanages in Mumbai to be raised in Netherlands, Meena Geltink and Minal Tijssen first crossed paths in their youth.

The two met at an event organized by the adoption agency and, noticing striking similarities in their appearance and mannerisms, began communicating with each other.

Years of Friendship and Separation

The two friends, who used to call each other "sister" and stayed in touch for many years, parted ways about 15 years ago after Minal moved to France and Meena gave birth to her first child.

The Surprising Truth Revealed by a DNA Test

During a visit to her family in Netherlands in April, Minal took a DNA test and messaged Meena on May 20, revealing that the pair were one hundred percent matching biological sisters.

Reuniting in August, the two women described the reunion as a feeling of coming home.
