A source familiar with the operation stated that the explosion which led to the destruction of the wedding celebration house in southern Iran was likely caused by a stray U.S. bomb.
U.S. forces had carried out a series of strikes on Tuesday in southern Iran in retaliation for mounting threats against troops and commercial maritime shipping.
The Target in Kuhestak and the Stray Bomb
A U.S. official stated that an airstrike was conducted targeting a communications complex in the coastal town of Kuhestak.
One of the six bombs dropped by U.S. Navy jets missed its target and struck the roof of a house approximately 134 meters away from the tower.
Casualties of the Attack and Official Statements
Iranian Deputy Health Minister Ali Jafarian reported that at least two women and two children aged 4 and 16 lost their lives in the attack, and more than 90 people were injured.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated during a press conference that the incident is being investigated, while the Central Command also confirmed that civilian casualty reports are being reviewed.
