Far-right activist Daniel Thomas, also known as Danny Tommo, attacked a dinghy carrying asylum seekers in the English Channel with a knife. The presence of a rescue worker on board the boat at the time created immense danger.

Live-streamed footage clearly showed Thomas repeatedly stabbing the dinghy, with the sounds of air escaping being heard distinctly.

Protests and Police Intervention

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the Gosport area of Hampshire to prevent asylum seekers from landing. The boats carrying the asylum seekers were subsequently diverted to the port of Dover.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary launched an investigation into the incident, announcing that six people have been arrested on various charges, including assault on an emergency worker.

Civil society organizations such as the refugee charity Joint Council for Welfare of Immigrants and Stand Up to Racism strongly condemned the attack.

Officials and NGOs emphasized that such dangerous and violent acts are unacceptable.

According to RNLI data, the rescued asylum seekers' journey in the water lasted approximately 36 hours. This duration is estimated to be the longest among crossings made in small boats.

The French coast guard stated that migrants remained at sea under hazardous conditions and were determined to reach the United Kingdom despite the risks.
