Ferry Voyage Details
The catamaran-type ferry named Filo Jet, belonging to the Filo Denizcilik company, had departed from the port of Kyrenia and set off towards the port of Taşucu in Turkey.
The Accident and Flooding
Encountering adverse weather conditions shortly after the voyage began, the marine vessel started taking on water and sank at a deep location.
Official Statements and Loss of Life
According to information provided by local authorities and press organs, at least seven to ten people lost their lives as a result of the accident, and many injured individuals were transferred to hospitals.
Search and Rescue Operations
Operations are being conducted in the region with coast guard boats and helicopters dispatched from both Northern Cyprus and Turkey in order to reach missing passengers.
