Finnish President Stubb Praises Trump's Peace Efforts and Addresses Russian Threat

Adopting a calmer tone compared to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy's warnings that Russia could attack other European countries, Stubb emphasized that Finland is secure thanks to its high military readiness and NATO membership.

In his remarks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that U.S. President Donald Trump has made intensive efforts over the past year to find a lasting peace solution in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy's Warnings and the Russian Threat

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy argued that if Russia fails to achieve its goals in Ukraine, it could increase the risk of drone, missile, or ground operations against other neighboring countries, stating that Europe must respond decisively.

Stubb's Calm Approach

Contrary to Zelenskyy's concerns, Finnish President Stubb expressed that, based on the intelligence data available to him, he does not foresee a direct and actual threat of a Russian invasion or attack against his country.

Finland's Military Preparedness

Stubb emphasized that thanks to its compulsory military service system, large reserve forces, modern F-35 fighter jet procurement, shelter infrastructure, and strong deterrence elements, Finland is extremely well-prepared against potential security risks.

Assurance Provided by NATO Membership

Stubb stated that with Finland's accession to NATO, it is now in the position of a security provider, and this situation eliminates the possibility of Russia testing his country.

Stubb pointed out that in addition to the conflict in Ukraine, Iran's nuclear program and other crises on a global scale are interconnected, noting that these issues are straining the global diplomatic system.
