Germany Prepares to Reveal Perpetrator of Drone Attack on Ukrainian Plane in Leipzig
Germany plans to soon reveal the identity behind the drone attack targeting a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig-Halle Airport and share a joint response with allies.
The German government is preparing to soon reveal the identity behind the suspected drone attack targeting a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig-Halle Airport and share its coordinated response to this development with European and NATO allies.
Investigation Nearing Completion
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated in an interview with the ARD channel on Sunday evening that the investigations are nearing completion and a clear response will be provided in the coming days.
Details of the Incident in Leipzig
In early August, an explosives-laden drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo plane carrying military supplies at Leipzig-Halle Airport, though the explosives did not detonate. Approximately twenty minutes after the incident, authorities are investigating the possibility that a second drone may have collided with a DHL cargo plane.
International Joint Coordination
While Moscow denies the accusations, Berlin's response and information-sharing are being conducted in close communication with EU and NATO partners. The announcements are likely to be made during meetings in Wicklow, Ireland.
